Last weekend I had the pleasure of doing flowers for an old school friend. Kelly chose a vintage theme of gorgeous muted tones of antique Pinks, Ivory and and Greens. I used gorgeous Ammi and Astrantia to give the bouquet a country feel and the most heavenly scented Ivory Roses and Lilac.
The buttonholes were wrapped in rustic twine and were a mixture of Ranunculus and Anemone with Wax Flower and Astrantia.

The table decorations were a mixture of quart pint milk bottles and kilner jars filled with similar flowers which looked amazing teamed with Kelly's beautiful favours and tea lights.
As always, summer seems to have come to an end far to quickly! But for me, this isn't a time to become melancholy. As what follows, is the explosion of colour which excites me into pulling on my wellington boots and setting off along the pretty lanes of West berkshire for a good forage!! Oh Yes!!
So armed with some sturdy snippers, a large basket and my faithful Poppy dog, I search for glossy berries, old man's beard, hawthorns, snow berries, rosehips and brightly coloured beautiful foliage to create magnificent autumnal displays!
And as you can see Mother nature didn't disappoint! The little mercury dipped bud vases are perfect for showing off delicate blooms and berries alike. Grouped together along a table, they work perfectly when entertaining, rather than larger vases that get in the way of the conversation.
I teamed the beautiful berried ivy with snow berries and old man's beard and added some church candles and a vintage bowl to set it off.
Next week, I will be gathering seed heads and more autumnal delights - if this rain ever stops!

Flowers from my cutting garden were used to create these show stopper arrangements for a country village christening recently. A little boy and girl were being christened so I could go wild with pink and blue and every shade in-between!

The Blue Nigella and scented Sweet Peas used in this bouquet and buttonholes came from a local grower, and they looked so pretty next to the soft pink of the Sweet Avalanche Rose. I always give the groom a special button hole different from the others, usually with something taken from the bridal bouquet. Nigella flower are often said to be the chains that bind people together in love!
The jubilee weekend bought about many parties and celebrations and I was busy putting together table decorations and bouquets for the lovely Jane Staunton Catering and Fielders farm shop.
Jane went for a pretty vintage theme in Golden Syrup tins which went down brilliantly at a party over in Bedwyn. I used mainly English garden flowers such as gloriously scented Sweet Peas and Lisianthus for the 'White', Sweet Williams and Gerberas for the 'Red' and Cornflowers and Agapanthus for the 'Blue', Shame the weather didn't match the cheeriness of the flowers, but I am assured a good time was had by all despite the rain!
